Review of Row, Row, Row Your Boat
For children just beginning to understand that marks on paper have meaning, this sturdy board book links literacy with other experiences by providing the words and actions for a familiar song. The funny verses are included too(‘If you see a crocodile, don’t forget to scream!’), together with endearing pictures of babies from a range of ethnic groups acting out the song together. And on the outside back cover is the music – useful for adult accompanists, but also a good introduction for children to the idea that there is more than one set of written symbols in the world.
