If you've enjoyed watching some online story times during the pandemic, you may be looking for ways to thank the authors and illustrators!

General Tips

• If you liked a book that a librarian or teacher read in a virtual storytime, please consider leaving a review on Goodreads, Toppsta or similar platforms.

• Support creators and local businesses by ordering their books through your local bookshop.

• Follow creators on social media and share their work.

• Donate to a fund that has been set up to support authors and illustrators, such as The Author’s Contingency Fund.

• If you’re a fan of an illustrator’s work, consider buying prints and other merchandise featuring their art. Many illustrators have online shops – you will find some links below and also via their social media profiles! You can also make small donations to creators via their Ko-fi and Patreon pages.

• Some authors and illustrators offer virtual visits – teachers or book clubs can hire them for Q&As, readings and workshops. You may also be able to hire them for small parties – a live draw-along with your child’s favourite illustrator would make a memorable birthday treat! Please contact creators directly to discuss rates and availability.
