Childs Play products meet the Hello campaigns Best Practice Criteria
Picture books and action rhymes and songs recommended for developing Learning & Communication skills in the early years
In this current year of communication a wealth of resources and advice sources are emerging to encourage all those in contact with children to evaluate the part they play in helping them develop effective communication skills. The significance of acquiring these skills is evident in the observation in the 'Other Ways of Speaking' publication, provided by the Communication Trust, that 'Being able to communicate is the most important skill we need in life. Almost everything we do involves communication'. Naturally the nature of how we communicate will vary from person to person, however, the bottom line is that these skills must be nurtured and supported from an early age in order for them to develop successfully.
In achieving this, the 'Hello' campaign highlights the importance of using both picture books and action rhymes and songs with children from an early age. Here at Child's Play we pride ourselves on creating high quality versions of these types of resources, with imaginative and inclusive illustrations to support the simple and accessible text. In addition we also have a specific range of baby signing books, designed to encourage, and provide methods for, babies to communicate their thoughts, feelings and ideas right from birth. We are therefore very happy to hear that our belief in the significant influence such products have on young children's learning is supported by this nationwide campaign.
