London Literacy Champions Celebration Event

Child's Play was delighted to be invited to celebrate the success of the London Literacy Champions project run by the National Literacy Trust at City Hall on Tuesday 29th May.

We have supported the project from the start by donating books to be used in the children's centres and providing the goody bags for this celebration event itself.

The year-long project is now coming to an end, and this was a great opportunity to meet with the organisers and volunteers, hear feedback from some of the families, and see evidence of how this extremely positive project has benefited the children involved and made a real difference to local communities.

It was also a relief to hear that although this event marked the end of the first leg of the project, in terms of the initial allocated funding, a budget has now been found to roll the project out in various other areas.

Child's Play is proud to be part of this, and we feel it would be a tragedy if the good work they have started was unable to carry on. The company will continue to support this initiative and we hope that the project is able to help improve the literacy of many more children in the future.
